Need a crown? Don’t wait two weeks! Thanks to CEREC crown technology, our Logan, Utah, dentists can place crowns on the same day.
Crowns are small tooth-shaped caps your dentist places over vulnerable teeth. Crowns are used both for protection and aesthetics. Crowns used to take multiple appointments and several weeks to get the placement right. Fortunately, with new technology at our Logan, Utah dentist office, we can place crowns much faster!
Traditionally, dental crowns took 1-2 weeks and involved several dental visits. The process started with the first visit, where a dentist took molds of the area. Then, they’d send the mold to a laboratory where technicians make the crown and send it back. You would then return to the dental office, where the dentist fits the crown and places it in your mouth. Sometimes, the crown did not fit, and the dentist would have to reorder it, taking another 1-2 weeks and more appointments.
Not anymore! Thanks to the new technology of CEREC crowns, dentists at Logan Peak Dental can place crowns on the same day.
CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC machines create crowns right at the dental office using a combination of computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). CEREC uses a strong ceramic that is both durable and attractive to make crowns. In fact, many people think CEREC crowns look more realistic than traditional options.
With a CEREC machine, your dentist preps the area, takes 3D images of your jaw, constructs the tooth, and installs it all on the same day. In many cases, patients are in and out in just a few hours, thanks to CEREC crowns.
There are many scenarios where a dentist will recommend installing a same-day crown.
